Meet Sylar Tso, Lead Sports Therapist at Hekas
Deep-tissue treatment, manual IASTM and a recovery plan that actually lasts. Here’s the approach behind Manchester’s Hekas and the therapist who delivers it.
Most people don’t walk into a sports clinic on their best day. They arrive carrying something, a shoulder that won’t loosen, a knee that flares on every run, and months of neck tension that painkillers only mask. And too often, they’ve been told to simply live with it.
At Hekas, that’s the one piece of advice we refuse to give. Leading the treatment room is Sylar Tso, the clinic’s lead sports therapist and the person Manchester athletes, runners and desk workers keep coming back to when they want the problem found and fixed, not just managed.
THE THERAPIST
Who is Sylar Tso?
Sylar is the lead sports therapist at Hekas in Manchester. Ask any of his regulars what sets him apart and you’ll hear the same few things: he listens, he’s straight with you about what’s going on, and the treatment is seriously hands-on. Clients describe his work as going right into the core, precise, deliberate, and not always gentle. It’s the kind of deep-tissue work that gets results, and it’s helped earn Hekas a five-star reputation across the city.
THE PHILOSOPHY
Find the cause, treat it, keep it away
Plenty of treatments chase the symptom. Sylar starts somewhere else, with why the pain is there in the first place.
Every session begins with assessment: how you move, where the restriction sits, and what’s actually driving the discomfort. Only then does the hands-on work begin, deep-tissue massage, manual IASTM, cupping or mobility work, chosen for your body rather than pulled from a template. You leave with a plan. Not just relief for the afternoon, but the rehab steps that stop the problem returning.
Pain isn't something to just live with. My job is to find why it's happening, treat it with my hands, and give you a plan so it doesn't come back.

What Sylar works on
No two bodies arrive with the same problem, so the toolkit is broad:
INTENSIVE SPORTS MASSAGE
Deep-tissue work to release tension, restore range and lift performance.
MANUAL THERAPY & IASTM
Instrument-assisted soft-tissue work that finds and frees scar tissue and adhesions.
SPORTS INJURY REHABILITATION
Tailored plans that rebuild strength and prevent the same setback twice.
DRY CUPPING THERAPY
Suction work to boost circulation and ease deep muscle tightness.
FULL BODY RESET
A single revitalising session to lift energy and speed recovery.
THE SESSION
What to expect your first visit
Start with a free 15-minute assessment. From there, expect honest conversation and genuinely deep work, the kind clients cheerfully warn is “not for the faint-hearted”, but which leaves them moving more freely by the time they walk out. Whether you’re rehabbing an injury or undoing months of desk tension, you’ll leave knowing exactly what comes next.
HOW A SESSION WORKS
01
Assess
A one-to-one look at how you move to pinpoint the root cause.
02
Treat
Hands-on therapy chosen for your body, not a template.
03
Recover
Leave with a personalised rehab plan and ongoing support.
Who Sylar works with
Hekas isn’t only for elite sport, but elite sport trusts it. Sylar works with professional and academy footballers, including players from the Manchester United and Manchester City academies, alongside former GB athletes and marathon runners. Just as often, he’s treating the office workers and weekend athletes who make up the heart of the clinic. The work has been featured in the Manchester Evening News and Men’s Health.
Friendly, professional and genuinely knowledgeable, he listens, works out what's actually wrong, then treats it. The work goes deep, and it's not for the faint-hearted, but it's effective. I came in with a shoulder injury and left moving far more freely.
